Frankincense Water

Frankincense Water (Infusion)
The traditional way to prepare Green Frankincense Water

The Standard Ratios
  • For a Single Glass:
    • 2–3 small resin tears (approx. 2 grams)
    • 8–10 oz of purified water
  • For a Large Batch (1 Gallon):
    • 0.5 oz of resin (approx. 15 grams or 1 level tablespoon)
    • 1 Gallon of purified water

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Measure: Place your resin tears (using the ratios above) into a glass jar or bottle.
  2. Add Water: Fill the container with room-temperature purified water. Do not use boiling water for this method, as it makes the resin too sticky.
  3. Steep: Secure the lid and let it sit for 12 hours (overnight) in a cool place away from direct sunlight. The water will turn a cloudy, milky white color.
  4. Drink: Stir or shake gently before pouring. It is traditionally enjoyed first thing in the morning on an empty stomach.

Pro Tips
  • Reuse the Resin: Do not throw the resin away after one use. You can refill the container with fresh water and repeat the process up to 3 times with the same batch of resin.
  • Solubility: Frankincense is a natural resin-gum and will not dissolve completely in water. The cloudy color comes from the water-soluble "gum" portion of the resin.
  • Zero Waste: Once the resin no longer turns the water cloudy, it is "spent." You can then chew the remaining softened resin like gum or dry it out to burn as incense.

Storage & Safety
  • Refrigeration: Always store your prepared Frankincense water in the refrigerator.
  • Freshness: For maximum potency and the best taste, consume your infusion within 48 hours.
  • Container: Use glass only. The essential oils in the resin can react with certain plastics over time.
