Revitalizing Tea
Revitalizing Frankincense Tea
A soothing, aromatic beverage enjoyed hot or cold to help alleviate stress and promote relaxation.
The Standard Ratios
-
For a Single Cup:
- 2 grams (approx. 1 level teaspoon) of powdered resin
- 8 oz of boiling purified water
-
For a Small Pot (2–3 Cups):
- 5–6 grams (approx. 1 tablespoon) of powdered resin
- 16–20 oz of boiling purified water
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Prepare the Tea Bag: Place the powdered resin into a disposable tea bag or a fine muslin sachet. This is a critical step to prevent the resin from sticking to your cup or teapot.
- Boil & Pour: Bring your purified water to a boil. Place the tea bag in your mug and pour the boiling water over it.
- Cover & Steep: Cover the mug with a lid or saucer to trap the beneficial volatile oils. Let it steep for 3 to 5 minutes.
- Enhance: Remove the tea bag. Add a slice of lemon, a sprig of fresh mint, or a teaspoon of honey to taste.
- Serve: Enjoy it hot for a calming effect, or let it cool and pour over ice for a refreshing summer tonic.
Pro Tips
- The "No-Mess" Secret: Never put loose resin directly into a teapot or reusable metal infuser. Once the resin heats up, it becomes extremely sticky and will be very difficult to clean off your hardware. Always use disposable bags.
- Combine with Herbs: Frankincense tea pairs beautifully with other dried herbs. Try adding ginger for digestion or chamomile for sleep into the same tea bag.
- Cloudy Appearance: Just like the water infusion, the tea will look milky or cloudy. This is a sign that the therapeutic gum-resins have successfully moved into the water.
Storage & Safety
- Immediate Consumption: Tea is best enjoyed immediately while warm.
- Iced Tea Storage: If making a larger batch for iced tea, store in a glass pitcher in the refrigerator for no more than 24 hours.
- Heat Warning: Use caution when handling boiling water. Ensure the tea bag is securely closed to prevent powder from escaping.
